Dog walking questions

+ Is there a minimum number of walks required to use The Tail Trail?

No. We provide dog walking services Monday through Friday and on weekends too, and do not require a minimum number of days. However, most of our clients ask that we walk their dogs every day of the work week - Monday through Friday. Providing our dog walking service each week is clearly our preference, as daily exercise, on a consistent basis, is best for your dog(s).

Dog and Cat Sitting Questions

+ How do you screen your Sitters?

The Tail Trail performs a comprehensive background check through Certified Background (criminal, residency history, social security verification and nationwide sexual offender index) for all of our Sitters, as well as for those involved with providing our dog walking service. In addition, each Sitter is carefully screened, interviewed, trained and joined in the field. We also encourage our clients to give us feedback on the Sitter after every assignment.

+ Why should I not hire my neighbor’s child or a low cost pet sitter?

In most cases, you get what you pay for. All of The Tail Trail staff members are professionally trained, bonded and insured.

+ When can I expect to meet my Sitter?

Once we have scheduled service, we will arrange to have your sitter stop by to meet you, if requested.

+ How do I pay for services?

We accept cash, check or credit card, in advance of service.

+ Can I hire my Sitter directly without going through The Tail Trail?

No. Please do not place our staff in an awkward position by offering dog and/or cat sitting or dog walking employment outside of The Tail Trail. All of The Tail Trail staff are prohibited from soliciting or accepting employment opportunities directly from clients of The Tail Trail. We thank you in advance for honoring this policy.

+ Can you give my dog or cat medication while I'm away?

Yes, as long as your dog or cat does not pose a threat to themselves or our staff.

+ I have to go away on very short notice and have no time to meet the Sitter. Can I still book your Dog and Cat Sitting service?

Yes, as long as we have previously met with you and your dog or cat, and have prepared and have on file, your Pet Care Schedule.

+ Do you board dogs or cats at The Tail Trail?

No, we do not provide boarding services, as we believe the best way to care for dogs and cats are in their own homes.
